Map Overlay Template (example shows the UK's AONBs)

google_map_block.jpgSite System features a standard Concrete5 Google Maps module that allows you to add a Google Map to any Content Area on any page. Its interface (shown right) is simple and allows you to enter lat/long coordinates for the map's 'centre', along with a starting 'zoom' level or scale. You will need a Google Maps API Key to use this module, but we can make this easy by running it through our developer's account (fees may apply if you exceed Google's very generous quota of free map impressions).

If you require a specific geographic overlay or collection of overlays (as shown above), we can create this as a bespoke template (extra fees may apply). We can either find and convert the required coordinates from published data, or we can create a custom polygon for you. Using an overlay like this will prevent website visitors being able to select Google place markers such as business information, but the overlay itself can be given a title and be made clickable as shown above (these AONB links were created for a different website so they won't work as expected).

Note too, that the styling and colouring of the map above has been altered by us such that the overlays are not visually overpowered by the normal Google Map road and place-name colouring. It follows, therefore, that we can style a map to your specific requirements if you so desire it.

ss5_maps_template1.jpgTo apply a custom overlay template to an instance of a Google Map Block, first add the standard map block to your page, then, whilst still in 'edit' mode, select 'Design & Custom Template' from the drop-down list of editing options.

ss5_maps_tempate2.jpgNext, click on the 'cog' icon in the toolbar that will appear top-left of the map block, and select your custom template from the 'Custom Template' drop-down list (shown right). That's it - however you asked us to customise your map block, that is how your map will now look.
